Buffalo Soldier Hat Belonging to French The Benjamin French Collection was donated to the Black Archives by the French family on behalf of Benjamin French. This collection included the Buffalo Soldier hat, also known as a stratton hat or slouch hat, is a distinctive military hat with a wide brim that can be shaped to either side. It is typically made of felt or other sturdy material and features a tall, creased crown.

Jake Gaither Award from Walter Camp Foundation The Walter Camp Man of the Year Award in 1974 was presented to Jake Gaither, a highly respected football coach known for his exceptional leadership and coaching skills. Jake Gaither was the head football coach at FAMU from 1945-1969, his collection was willed to the Black Archives in 1991 following his death in 1994.
